Sylvern Mathurin, otherwise known as Poté started his musical journey growing up in the beautiful surroundings of St Lucia where calypso was always playing on the stereo back by the sounds of the ocean. As a stark contrast he moved over the North West London at the age of 11 where by the age of 14 was already producing music influenced by the UK dubstep scene whilst his Caribbean heritage really continued to flow through the speakers. As dubstep moved away he really started to find his sound after immersing himself in the club scene and started to make records with broad influences.
His release Katz went to No 1 on the Radio 1 dance charts and as he has continued to release a slew of club bangers, he also has another side more attuned to the likes of SBTRKT, Jamie XX & Sampha where he has started to experiment with his own vocals as well as production and has resulted in his debut ‘mini-album’ Sprial, My Love which is accompanied by an amazing live show taking you on a real journey, being released by legendary taste-maker Benji B on his Deviation label, Benji is known for his longstanding show on BBC Radio 1, alongside curating various fashion shows and most notably executive producing for Kanye West.
Poté has recently been collaborating with Damon Albarn and Remi Kabaka travelling with them to South Africa for their Africa Express Project which has in turn resulted in them lending their hand to his own project alongside other guests such as Kojey Radical, Chelou & Alxndr LDN.
