Phil Clifton

Phil Clifton is a British television and Sony nominated radio presenter who is handsome, hugely likeable and a lover all things music, comedy and youth culture. Along with TV projects, he can currently be heard every weeknight across the UK on Radio X.

Phil landed his first presenting role on the indie and alternative radio station XFM, after a brief stint producing shows for Danny Wallace and Dave Berry. After only a few months on air, he was nominated for the prestigious ‘Sony Rising Star Award’ and quickly promoted up the XFM ranks to the Weekend Breakfast slot. A big music fan, Phil gave the first ever radio play to Bastille, who he’d seen previously performing as an unsigned artist in a North London venue, years before they ever hit the Top 10 and championed them along the way. Phil has been thanked a few times by the Bastille boys during performances.

He was later selected by MTV (UK and Ireland) to host some of their chart content and various other MTV productions, including the legendary Gonzo.

He also received the honour of being featured in the annual ‘Red Pages Hot 100’ list, an important industry round-up which predicts the up and coming names in the world of fashion, music, TV, film, politics, sport and society.

Phil was part of the presenting team for Channel 4’s flagship music-based breakfast show Freshly Squeezed, together with Jameela Jamil, Matt Edmondson and Georgie Okell. The programme featured studio performances, the latest music videos and interviews with top recording artists.

He has hosted official online and national radio content for The BRIT Awards, and presented behind-the-scenes backstage and red carpet footage during the show. Mr Clifton also hosted the regional finals of the L’Oréal ‘Hair Colour Trophy’ awards, attended by Alexa Chung, Shingai Shoniwa and George Lamb.

Phil has performed at many major events, including sets for the NME Awards, London Fashion Week, Nokia, o2 and Guess, along with various club nights up and down the country.

This summer XFM Relaunched as Radio X, taking the station Nationally and adding an all star line-up including the likes of Chris Moyles, Vernon Kay, Johnny Vaughan and Ricky Wilson from The Kaiser Chiefs. Phil is part of the exciting new line-up and can be heard across the country from 7-10pm every weekday.
