Sian Eleri is one of the biggest music tastemakers at BBC Radio 1. Presenting 4-nights-a-week on the station, she shares her love for music across two shows – The Chillest Show, and The Power Down Playlist.

She’s often heard covering other presenters on the network like Clara Amfo and Jack Saunders. Her zest for new music reaches far and wide – be it breaking new artists or interviewing some of the biggest faces in the scene. From artists like Jorja Smith, Kelis, Disclosure, and Sigrid; to personalities like Joe Lycett, Amelia Dimoldenberg, England captain Leah Williamson, and Sex Education star Aimee Lou-Wood; her delicate and welcoming interview skills are a delight for any listener.

Growing up in Caernarfon, Sian is a proud Welsh speaker and can be heard regularly on BBC Radio Cymru, where she first cut her teeth in radio presenting back in 2018 and most recently curated and presented a very special evening of live music in Pontio, chilled out classics with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, playing some of the most calming music ever written for a live audience.

As well as being named Music Week’s Rising Star in August 2021, her expertise in music has led to being a member of several judging panels in the industry. These include the AIM Awards, the Youth Music Awards, the British Podcast Awards, the Welsh Music Prize, and being a jury member for the BRITs.

Sian is an enthusiastic VO artist – with her warm, dulcet tones being heard representing clients like the BBC Archives, 4Music and the Six Nations Championship. She’s also voiced BBC podcast ‘Story of Miwsig’ alongside DJ Huw Stephens, and various music playlists across the BBC Sounds network.

Sian also has extensive experience in hosting live events. Some key career moments include Glastonbury, Proms, Radio 1’s Big Weekend as well as the Welsh Music Prize and the red carpet for the BIFA Awards. She’s also started her own gig night called TONNA’, championing some of her favourite artists.

Sian’s on-screen TV appearances are swiftly gaining momentum. She’s appeared as the main solo presenter on various platforms covering a diverse range of topics – including culture programme Green Space Dark Skies on BBC One Wales and a woman in music special Merched Yn Gwneud Miwsig on S4C.

Her new epic BBC Three series ‘Paranormal: The Girl, The Ghost and The Gravestone’ was released this year on BBC Three and iPlayer. It has been watched by millions, due to it’s success Sian is now filming series 2. Sian has also been featured in Notion Magazine and was on the judging panel at the prestigious Mercury Music Prize 2023.
